An early start today with only time to glimpse at the mist and have breakfast before the trek down the mountain and off on our journey to Guilin.
Got chatting to a couple of lovely young children on the bus to Longsheng and gave them some NZ coins and a postcard each from NZ, they were rapt. Showed them our photos of our grandchildren and they wanted to know all about them.
Rather uneventful travelling today. once again the Lonely Planet and Google Maps guided us to within 50 metres of our chosen Hostel in Guilin, technology hasn't failed us yet - though we do try to make sure we engage with the locals as much as possible.
That got me (Les) caught a good one .... should have known better! Sorry Livvie, I now have 50 grams of very special Guilin Tea, from the Guilin Tree I might add, purchased at an exorbitant price just to get out of the shop once I finally realised I had been Hooked. However if the story is correct I will have zero cholesterol and my figure will be so trim that no-one will recognise me!
Have booked our boat trip to Yangshou for tomorrow and being the intrepid travellers that we are looked at all the pricing options and decided we won't be tourists, we'll be Chinese and for 2/3 of the tourist price we will go on the Chinese Charter boat! Hope we don't live to regret it!
Had a wander around the streets of Guilin and it's a lovely river city with beautiful gardens so a bit of a shame we are staying such a short time. But we can't do it all in 50 days in Asia!
