Day 30, May 18 - Historic Tour of Saigon City

Before we left NZ Kim put together a sightseeing programme for each place we were travelling to. This turned out to be invaluable - particularly when we had limited time and wanted to see the top spots in a destination, Today's list for Saigon included:

   The ....... Markets
   Saigon, Notre Dame
   The Historic Saigon Post Office
   The Reunification Palace.
The Presentation room at the Reunification Palace.
Our tour also included the War Remnants Museum which to be honest was such a sobering place to visit that photos didn't seem appropriate.  The foursome agreed that the human race at times needs to stop and consider what we are fighting for and remember the lessons of previous wars!

Like China Vietnam likes to encourage its citizens to get out and do a bit of exercise..... K and L decided to give it a go which in 38 degrees didn't last long.
A beautiful garden area in Central Saigon.
For our last evening meal in Saigon we chose to return to the same restaurant as last night because we knew we would get a great meal and also have the opportunity to sit and watch the world go by.
Pho, and Rare beef and green papaya salad and a tofu and green papaya salad.
Followed by a walking tour of the area and seeing a bit more of the night life which of course included a stop of for a cold one and more people watching!

After all the walking  today B and L couldn't resist another foot massage but R and K were not so keen!
