Today is a lot quieter than yesterday which was May Day - this is a big deal in China and everyone is out and about visiting lots of tourist destinations. We got a morning view of Dehang before the bus trip back to Jishou.
On arrival at Jishou bus stop Lesley spotted that Russell had inadvertently left Johnson on the bus so he had to sprint back to pick up his travel companion (haven't seen him move that fast for some time).
Fenghuang is a stunning river village also known as the ancient Phoenix town, went around it by day then again at night, wow it was stunning all lit up!
Fenghuang has some unusual foods such as live chickens, pheasants, all types of fish, snails, snakes, furry mole like looking creatures outside the restaurants waiting for patrons to pick and cook (they are guaranteed fresh!). Lesley and me are sticking to the delectable sugared ginger that this town is known for!
Went to a recommended restaurant .... Once we found it with numerous hand pointing and directions from the locals, and got ushered to a private room on the third floor, not sure if we were special or if they wanted to hide the foreigners! Just finished dinner and Russell made a VERY fast return to the hostel!!!! he made it by the skin of his teeth and clench of his cheeks.....
