Full Day in Hanoi's French and Old Quarter. - Day 23, May 11

Nice slow start to the day with a delightful breakfast which is part of the daily room rate and then we were off to explore what Hanoi had to offer. We took a gentle stroll around Lake Hoan Kiem which is the midway point between the Old Quarter (where we are staying) and the French Quarter.  It was a great way to gather our bearings and do a bit of people watching.

When we were in the French Quarter we visited the Opera House (amazing that it survived the  bombings) then we ate gorgeous French cakes that were beautifully decorated!
Delectable samples of High Tea in the French Quarter

As we walked back through the Old Quarter taking in all of the main points of interest Russell came across a coffee shop and of course he was in like Flynn - back to the accommodation for a little r&r, the image in my mind for the afternoon is Russell strumming Johnson whilst sipping his Weasel Poo coffee!

Early evening saw us head off to the Dong Xuong Night Markets hoping to pick up some street food for dinner but it wasn't to be, heaps of goods to buy but not much in the food area.  It was amazing to see them turn streets into bustling markets in less than an hour and the numbers of people was stupendous!

Mayhem at the Ha Noi Night Markets

The search for the all seeing eye continues..... Many eyes on the look out.
